Screen Printing

  • What is Screen Printing?
    • Screen printing is a process where ink is pushed through a mesh stencil onto the t-shirt, and cured to the shirt using heat. The end result is a very nice solid, opaque print that completely covers the shirt material. You will feel a texture to a screen print as the ink is laying on top of the t-shirt material. With lighter color inks on a darker color shirt, you will feel more of a texture because the ink is laid down in two layers in order to achieve maximum opacity. Screen prints are very durable and should last the life of the garment.

    • No. We are not able to print on customer supplied goods. The garments we order through our various distributors are specifically made for our various decoration methods. We have to be able to have access to those goods in case we need extra pieces, or we have a damaged item that can be replaced. Goods bought through retailers often have various issues, some of which may not be immediately apparent.

  • Can I mix and match different styles within my order?

  • Can I make changes to my order?

Once the order proof is approved and paid, many of our processes begin immediately and that can make it impossible to make changes. If you have approved a proof and you need to make a change, the best thing to do is give us a call and we will work with you in any way we can.

Some colors work better than others depending on the shirt color, so we’ll be sure to discuss that with you before going through the final approval process.

  • How do I know what sizes to order?
    • Each item online has a spec sheet in PDF form which will detail the sizing information for that product. A good thing to do is to measure a shirt that you already own to see what would be the closest fit for you. When in doubt, always go a size larger. Cotton shirts especially can shrink slightly from the original measurements. If you are still unsure, give us a call or send us an email and we’ll help you out the best we can.

  • What is the proof/approval process?
    • When you are ready to place an order, submit an Order Request Form online. We will send you an email with the proof and invoice that you can approve and pay online. Once the proof is approved and the invoice is paid we will release the order for production. No changes can be made once the order is approved and paid.

  • What if the order doesn’t turn out how I expected?

We work on the front end to make sure every detail is understood by both parties so there is rarely a miscommunication that would result in an error. In the event that you are unhappy, give us a call and we’ll do our best to remedy the situation in any way we can.

  • Can you print on shirts I bring in?
    • Unfortunately we do not accept customer supplied goods. We are able to order almost any garment from online distributors so if you don’t see what you want online, let us know.

Artwork

  • What artwork types are acceptable?
    • Our preferred file type is vector based. We use Adobe Illustrator in-house, so those file types would be .ai, .eps, .pdf (Remember that all fonts/lettering should be in outlines before sending). We can sometimes use raster based images provided that they are at size and appx 300dpi. Every design and file is different so some things may or may not work for the process. If you have any question about your file, send it over and we’re more than happy to take a look. Something to keep in mind: The best quality prints come from the best quality artwork.

  • Can you print my logo from a business card/letterhead etc?
    • The resolution of an image from a small business card or website is not usually good enough for printing. That doesn’t mean we can’t work with you, though! We are happy to look at anything you have that gives us an idea of what you’re looking for. If it’s a business card, we can often recreate it for you in a format that works for the process.

  • I only have a jpg of my logo, can you work with that?
    • If the design is simple and 1-color, and the jpg is large enough, it will usually work. If not, we’re still often able to recreate it for you in a format that works for the process. If there’s ever a question, just give us a call or send us an email and ask. We’re happy to work with you so that you get the best possible prints for your design.

  • Can you print something I downloaded from the internet?
    • This is almost always a “no”. There are many factors to this. First, the file is unlikely to be large enough to be printed. Second, the file is unlikely to be free of copyright and/or trademark restrictions. We take this very seriously. When in doubt, contact us and we are happy to discuss it with you.

  • Can you print Trademarked Brand/TV Show/Movie/Famous Person/Bootleg etc?
    • No. We will not print anything protected by copyright or trademark. We take this very seriously. We reserve the right to reject any design we deem to be at risk for infringement.

  • Will you print profanity/vulgarity?
    • We celebrate creativity and we do not reject a design because of profanity or vulgarity per se. We absolutely reserve the right to reject anything we deem derogatory to any group.

  • Can you help with design/artwork?
    • If you need illustrations, or commercial design work, we do recommend that you start a relationship with a graphic designer that specializes in those areas. For basic t-shirt designs, there are many sites online now such as 99 Designs and fiverr that offer inexpensive graphic design options especially for simple projects.

  • What is the maximum print size?
    • Our maximum print area on a t-shirt is about 12”x14”, but it ultimately depends on the style and sizes that you are ordering. If there’s any question, just give us a call or send us an email are we can discuss your options.

Getting Your Order

Garment Types

  • What garment styles do you carry?
    • Because we order all of our garments from distributors around the country, we have access to many styles and colors that are not shown on the website. If you are looking for a specific style or color, or you’re looking for a feature that you don’t see online, please give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to help source that item for you.

  • What is the difference between the different t-shirt styles you carry?
    • Basic t-shirts are going to be fairly straightforward. A great example is the Gildan 2000 Ultra Cotton T-Shirt. They are appropriate for men, women and youth within the general population. They typically come in a great range of colors and sizes to accommodate the largest number of people. They are made of cotton or 50% Percent Cotton/50% Polyester. They are great for screen printing. Within the last several years, some newer more fashion-forward styles have really started to become popular. It’s important to understand these materials and cuts so that you are sure to be happy with the end product. Styles like the Canvas 3001 are a 100% Cotton (some colors are a cotton/polyester blend) but are much thinner, and done in a super soft ringspun cotton for comfortable feel. Even though the shirts are cut similar to the basic styles, many people feel they are a little more “clingy” due the the lightweight drape of the fabric. The Triblend fabric is another that has really increased in popularity. Similarly to the more fashion forward style described above, you have a cotton/poly blend with a little rayon mixed in for softness and a little stretch. These can also have a more clingy feel to them. Performance fabrics are the 100% polyester fabrics that feel silky, and are very lightweight. These are especially popular for sports teams, running groups, or fitness companies.

  • What is the difference between Pique and Jersey Knit in Polos?
    • Pique is what I would consider the stereotypical “polo” shirt. It has a texture to the knit and often has a thicker feel. This fabric is perfect for embroidery. Jersey knit polos are a more casual style made in a fabric that is like a heavy t-shirt material. This style can be either embroidered, or screen printed for an even more casual effect. Polos also come in a variety of performance styles in 100% polyester if you’re looking for the silky feel to the garment.

  • What sweatshirt styles do you carry?
    • Sweatshirts come in three basic styles: Crewneck, Hooded Pullover, and Zip-Up (with or without hood). Most are going to be a blend of cotton and polyester, while there are also some triblend styles, and also some 100% polyester styles. The Crewneck are going to be the least expensive options, while some of the zip-up styles can get quite expensive. If you would like to maintain a budget while ordering sweatshirts, please contact us so we can help guide you to the right product.

  • How do I know what size the shirts are?
    • The sizes available for each item are available in the the spec sheet and/or measurement sheet that you can download from the product page. Remember: A person can always wear a size that’s slightly too large, but it’s much more uncomfortable if it’s too small!
